Erasmus+ mobility in Braga, Portugal
On September 27th, together with 11 other students from the Business Academy and two
teachers, I arrived in Braga, Portugal, to begin our two-week internship abroad. I would be
lying if I said we had a calm flight. Most of the flight was quite hectic, as we ran into a
hurricane coming from Spain, although the landing itself was very smooth.Upon arrival, we met one of our tour guides. She led us to our transfer that had been waiting
for us at the Porto airport, and we were then transported to our hotel in Braga. The
accommodation was quite nice and modern, yet simple - which was fitting, considering the
hotel’s name: Hotel Basic Braga by Axis. After eating our first dinner there, we didn’t expect
to have the same kind of soup every evening for the next two weeks - creamy vegetable soup.
I presume it’s a traditional Portuguese dish, as we were served the very same soup for lunch in
a restaurant on our last day in Braga. The following day, Sunday, we had a tour of Porto. Porto was a very beautiful, vibrant, and
colorful city, located near the ocean. Besides wine tasting, we also enjoyed a short boat tour
on the Douro River. On Monday, we were introduced to our workplaces and the people we
would be working with. We also had a guided tour around Braga, the city where we were
staying. Braga is a bit smaller than Porto, but it’s just as beautiful and full of life. For the next two weeks, we worked in our temporary jobs, helping our employers with the
tasks they assigned to us. During our lunch breaks, we had the opportunity to explore Braga a
little and discover the local cuisine, which included many fish dishes - unsurprising, since
fishing plays an important role in Portugal. On the second Friday, we had a ceremonial farewell lunch in a nice restaurant, where we were
presented with our Erasmus+ certificates. The next day, Saturday, we left Braga and flew back
home. The journey home was quite calm, although our flight was delayed by two hours.
Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the two weeks in Portugal. Traveling abroad for just a few days
is completely different from spending two full weeks living in another country. During this
time, we got to experience real life in Portugal. We also had the opportunity to use our
language skills - and to improve them as well.Filip IV.A
My Erasmus+ Internship
I had the opportunity to take part in a two-week foreign internship in Braga, city
in Portugal. It was an unforgettable experience that allowed me to grow both
personally and professionally. We travelled on the 27th of September - first by
train to Bratislava, then by bus to Vienna, and from there we took a flight to Porto.During my stay, I was accommodated in Basic Braga hotel, which was a simple,
but very comfortable place. The location was convenient and close to the city
center, which made it easy for us to explore Braga and enjoy its atmosphere.
During my internship I worked at a language school called the London Institute,
where I worked with my classmates. Our main responsibilities included assisting
the staff with administrative work, filling out paperwork, and preparing an event
for students of the school. These tasks really helped us develop communication
skills, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility in a real workplace environment.
The teachers and employees were very kind, supportive, and helpful, and they
helped us understand how a language school operates.
Besides work, we also had the opportunity to travel and discover the beauty of
Portugal. We visited Porto, a fascinating city full of history, colorful houses, and
views of the river Douro. From there, we went to Vila Nova de Gaia, where we
enjoyed a boat tour on the river, which was an amazing experience. Another
unforgettable trip was to Viana do Castelo, where we spent time on the beach
and swam in the ocean. These trips gave us a chance to relax, experience
Portuguese culture, and create many beautiful memories together.
I am very satisfied with my internship in Braga. It was a valuable experience
that gave me not only professional skills but also self-confidence and
independence. Living and working in another country helped me realize how
important cultural understanding and communication are in today’s world. I am
grateful for the opportunity to take part in this Internship. I believe that
everything I learned during this time will help me in my future career and
personal development.Erasmus+ in Braga
My Erasmus experience in Braga, Portugal, was unforgettable. I went to Braga on 27th
September 2025 and left on 11th October 2025. We flew from Vienna to Porto and then
traveled to Braga. During these two weeks, I had the chance to do many new things, meet new
people, and practice my language skills.
We stayed at Basic Braga Hotel, which was simple but very cozy and comfortable. The
rooms were clean with modern furniture and comfortable beds. The hotel had a nice
reception, and the breakfast was tasty and varied, which gave us energy for long days full of
activities.
During my stay, I worked at the London Institute language school. I learned a lot about
Portuguese culture and traditions from local teachers. This work helped me understand the
differences between educational systems and gave me valuable experience that I can use in
the future.
Besides work, I traveled and explored the area. I visited the center of Braga, which amazed
me with its beautiful architecture, historical churches, and cozy streets. One of the most
unforgettable trips was to Porto. In Porto, we went on a boat trip on the Douro River and saw
amazing views of the city. This trip helped me learn more about Portuguese culture, history,
and the traditional wine that Porto is famous for.
Another great trip was to Viana do Castelo, where I enjoyed beautiful beaches, fresh air, and
amazing nature. These trips showed me how diverse and beautiful Portugal is. During my free
time, I also met local people and made new friends, which helped me improve my language
skills and understand everyday life in Portugal.
My experience in Braga was very positive and inspiring. I learned a lot about Portuguese
culture, improved my language and work skills, and gained many unforgettable experiences.
Erasmus gave me not only professional experience but also new perspectives, confidence, and
a desire to travel and explore new places. I would definitely recommend this experience to
anyone who has the chance to do Erasmus abroad.
Timea IV.AEssay about Erasmus+
I participated in the Erasmus+ program. On 27.09.2025 we traveled to the city of Braga in
Portugal. Braga is a very beautiful and historic city. We also visited the city of Porto. In Porto,
we see the historic train station. We walked across the bridge designed by a student of
Gustave Eiffel. We sailed on the Doura River. During the trips, we see many churches, such as
Viana de Castelo, Sameiro and Sé de Braga. During the weekend, we were by the Atlantic
Ocean, which was icy.
We stayed at the BASIC BY AXIS hotel in the center of Braga. I worked at the
AGRUMAPENTO DE ESCOLAS FRANCISCO SANCHCES institution with two
classmates. We did administrative work, such as working with record books or transcribing
data into the Word program.
This internship gave me a lot of new experiences and knowledge. I improved my teamwork
and communication. I can definitely recommend Erasmus+.
Michaela III.BINTERNSHIP PORTUGAL – BRAGA
Erasmus program in Portugal was one of the best experiences of my life. It helped me learn about new
culture, improve my language skills, and grow as a person.
I spent two weeks in the beautiful Portuguese city of Braga, surrounded by friendly people, great food,
and wonderful places to visit.
One of the first things that impressed me was the accommodation. We stayed in a modern hotel. It was
clean, well-equipped, and very cozy, so I felt like at home. We also had meals provided, and I was very
happy with them. The food was always fresh and delicious.
I worked in a Bowling House. We worked with contracts and documents, did accounting in a program,
and filled in tables.
During my stay, I had the chance to travel around Portugal. I visited Porto, Viana do Castelo, and many
other cultural places. Each of these cities had its own special charm. My favorite memory was swimming
in the ocean with my friends — something I will never forget.
The Erasmus experience helped me develop many important skills. Living abroad improved my
communication, because I had to talk with different people. I became more confident in speaking English
and also learned how to work well in a team.
Erasmus in Portugal was a time full of adventure and unforgettable moments. It gave me new experiences
and a wider view of the world. I am very thankful for this opportunity, and I believe that the skills and
memories will stay with me for the rest of my life.
Liliana III.BMy Time in Portugal
From the 27th of September to the 11th of October 2025, I took part in an internship in Portugal.
Together with my classmates, we stayed in the beautiful city of Braga. We travelled there by plane,
and in the city we usually walked everywhere. Every morning a transfer took us to work, and for trips
we went by bus.
We stayed in Basic Hotel by Axis, where the staff always took good care of us and made sure we felt
comfortable. The rooms were clean, the food was delicious, and the staff was very kind.
I worked at the London Institute, where I was part of a great team. During the internship, I learned a
lot. I improved my English communication, learned to organize my work better, and how to solve
problems calmly. It was interesting to see how people work in another country and to try something
new.
The internship gave me many unforgettable memories. I improved my language skills, met new people
and their culture, and saw a different way of life. I also got an even bigger desire to travel and discover
the world.
We went on many trips, for example to Bom Jesus, Sameiro, Porto, and Viana do Castelo. Everywhere
we went, the atmosphere was nice, and each trip was special in its own way. We also visited the
Atlantic Ocean, where we had a chance to swim, which was a lot of fun.
I would definitely recommend this internship to every student. It is not only about work, but also about
learning about yourself, having new experiences, and getting the courage to try new things. I am really
thankful that I could be part of something so beautiful.
